Welcome to the 2022 Battle of Buffalo! Our goal in this tournament is to pit our skills against worthy opponents and find the limits of our mettle. It’s important to remember that while winning a bout feels wonderful, much more can often be gained by losing a bout. In that vein, please join us and find your own limits. In some cases, you may find yourself surpassing them! The federschwert (or feder) is a traditional training weapon for two-handed longsword combat used throughout Europe for centuries. The singlestick is a traditional training weapon for the highland basket hilt broadsword and British heavy saber. In the spirit of the Scottish Clans, we will be running the singlestick tournament as a team tournament this year! For the singlestick team tournament, teams of three fighters with five hit points each fight in a relay-style match where winning relies heavily on not getting hit! The last team with a fighter left standing wins the match. Only one person from each team will be fighting at a time, but the points for the team are all looked at together. Please do not hesitate to contact us. We are more than happy to answer questions or discuss any matters or concerns you may have. Please keep in mind, as well, that everything is subject to change on the day of the event, at the discretion of the tournament director. We will communicate any such changes before the tournaments begin.
