The Dawn Duellists Society invites you to celebrate Scotland's national poet with a HEMA tetrathlon: smallsword, sabre and broadsword, pistols and poetry recital!

Prizes will be awarded for each discipline. The grand prize will go to the competitor who performs the best across all tetrathlon disciplines.

Tetrathlon Scoring

The grand prize will be awarded to the competitor who attains the most points. Points will be awarded based on the competitors final standing within each discipline, with a small bonus for each discipline they competed within.

Fencers who compete in both the Open and URG Sabre events will recieve points based on the average of their standing in these events.

Smallsword

The smallsword competition will be a double elimination tournament, without pools.

Smallswords will be provided, but fencers are welcome to bring their own.

Sabre

There will be Open and Under-Represented-Genders events for sabre. These events will run at different times, and URG fencers may particpate in both events. Open sabre will be pools followed by a single elimination bracket. URG sabre structure will depend on participation numbers, time is scheduled for pools followed by a single elimination bracket.

Sabres and basket-hilt broadswords will be allowed. Fencers are to supply their own weapon.

Pistol

Pistol will run throughout the day. Participants will be given a set of opponents to fight throughout the morning. Once all matches are concluded, the most bloody-minded pistoleers with the best K/D ratio will advance the finals.

Pistols will be provided.

Poetry

In the evening, we will retire to the social venue for some drinks and recital. Poetry may be original, or the work of another. Poems that are delivered with style, that have been memorised, and are historically apposite are likely to receive more points than those that are not!

No participant may perform Address to a Haggis
