This year, we are using the York-style format. This is different from standard tournaments in both fighting style and tournament format, so please read carefully!
York-style fencing is performed at a slower speed than usual sparring and competition. The intent is to give everyone time to think about using the best technique in a situation. Each bout begins with a salute, performed at the speed at which you wish to fight. The speed of the bout should match that of the slowest salute in the pair. Once a convincing action lands, separate and repeat, starting again with a salute.
Every competitor fights every other competitor in round-robin. At the end, everyone casts a vote to nominate a winner for each category:
If there is a draw between fencers, the drawn fencers will again fight in round-robin, and all competitors vote again to nominate a clear winner.
TBC, there will be prizes!
