The Winter’s Flail is a beginners tournament featuring Longsword, Single Sidesword, Synthetic Sword and Buckler and a group melee!
It's time for The Winter's Flail, a day of competitive fencing hosted by Southampton Historical Fencing, in partnership with Oxford Sword and Staff.
There will be tournaments in steel longsword, steel sidesword, synthetic sword and buckler , plus an alley brawl style melee.
Registration includes up to two of the main tournaments and the melee. The prices are:
-£25 for members of Academy of Historical Arts affiliated clubs
-£35 for non-AHA members.
We would also be very appreciative of anyone that would like to help us out by volunteering at the event. Anyone who wishes to attend solely to volunteer, without competing, will be very welcome and will not be required to pay anything .
Please note, the tournaments at this event are intended to be entry-level. If you have ever won a medal at an open tournament, then unfortunately you will not be able to compete. The exceptions would be in club tournaments and any melee style tournament with multiple fighters.

By purchasing a ticket to compete you are confirming you are a member in good standing of a HEMA club and are covered by the club insurance.
