Equipment

Loaner swords will be provided for all events. No personal swords will be permitted, with the exception of participants competing in the advanced longsword category.

Open Longsword Cutting

The open division is accessible to cutters of beginner and intermediate skill levels. Open longsword cutting will consist of six rounds with participants being eliminated after the second, third, and fourth rounds.

Advanced Longsword Cutting

Participants in the advanced tier are permitted to use a personal sword to compete. Sword must be a European sword that is historically plausible for the medieval period in design, and must come from a reputable maker. The advanced division is intended for cutters who already participate regularly in advanced tournaments, or have previously won medals in open or tier B competitions. Advanced cutting will consist of six rounds with participants being eliminated after the second, third, and fourth rounds.

Open Arming Sword

The arming sword cutting tournament is open to participants of all skill levels. Arming sword cutting will consist of six rounds with participants being eliminated after the second, third, and fourth rounds. In the spirit of fairness, participants considered advanced in skill level will have larger point deductions.

Experimental Mixed Weapon Relay

The experimental cutting competition will consist of a four round relay event with varied weapons and cutting mediums. Weapons will include longsword, messer, rapier/dagger, and Dane axe. Cutting mediums will include water bottles, tatami mats, and rope.
