Spring Fechten Rules:  RULES

Rules Addendum:

  1. Priority. Strikes to lower openings (anything at the beltline or lower) with all weapons are considered to be "Low Priority" in the case of a double. Lower priority means that a double, in tempo, is scored for the person who struck with higher priority. Low Priority also applies to 1 armed attacks in long sword.
  2. Ring Outs. Generally, any ring outs are reset in the middle of the ring. However if a hit occured before the "Halt" is called that hit will be scored accordingly. Any hit after the "Halt" is invalid.
  3. Quality Checks. All 1 handed strikes in long sword will be checked for quality. Every time. Hitting only fabric, handle, gear, or mostly crossguard may not be considered "quality" at Ref discretion.
  4. Wrestling. In B Tier Rules, wrestling or grappling can be done until the halt is called. Referees will call the Halt immediately when grips occur and award the round based on "dominant position".
  5. Sword Grabs. In B Tier Rules, a sword grab can be done as long as the sword is not in motion. Pushing the flat with the open hand is allowed and permitted. Pushing on the edge of the weapon may be awarded as a slice. Grabbing on the last third of the blade is allowed, but if the other party pulls on the weapon while doing so it may be considered a valid slice.
  6. Pommel Strikes. Pommel strikes in B Tier Rules are fine if displayed or placed. Excessive force will be called as it's observed so please be respectful of your partner.
