Rebellion is a new competition series designed to complement the existing UK scene. It’s a bit different to the others in that it aims to cover weapons that are under-represented in the current tournament scene as well as individual and team mixed weapon fighting. It’s a chance to:

• Fight with weapons or companions you don’t usually get to compete with
• Discover or try something new
• Test your skills with the classics against different opponent weapons
• Fight as part of a team

It aims to be as well organised and structured as Hernes and Wessex (in fact we have reps from both in our team), and whilst there will be medals, it’s a chance to have fun doing something a little different.

What do we mean by underrepresented? We mean things you can’t currently compete in, in the UK, like dual wielding, spears, Rotellas etc. It can also mean those that don’t appear in as many competitions such as single side sword or S&B.

We want to allow the freedom of breaking away from traditions for a bit, to fight with weapons that you love, regardless of if they are mainstream, the same as your opponents, or from the same period in history. Trying something a bit different is a great way to test and extend your fighting skills whilst having a lot of fun. We want to bring that enjoyment of doing crazy shit in training to a competition level.

There are too many options for one weekend, so the plan is to run two a year, with different events. The first will be run in late 2025 with the second aimed for spring 2026.
